WELCOME TO PACIFIC GROVE

In 1875, a Methodist summer retreat set up their tents on the edge of Monterey Bay near Lover's Point. In time, the tents became small board and batten cottages. Then beautiful churches and grand Victorians sprung up throughout the village. In 1889 Pacific Grove was incorporated.
Since then it has maintained its quiet comfort and charm. People came from all over to taste and smell the sea air and to walk the trails lined with lilac and wind blown cypress. That natural beauty still exists today, beckoning the visitor to explore its boundaries. From the spectacular rocky shore to the indigenous and colorful plants to its magnificent Victorians, Pacific Grove is truly the "heart of the Monterey Peninsula." Awaiting you are great seasonal celebrations, parks and playgrounds, gourmet restaurants, unique shops and galleries, scuba diving, kayaking, golf, surfing or just cruising the shoreline recreation trail and soaking up all the beauty that is Pacific Grove.
